We're usually jealous of our friends across the pond for getting high-megapixel camera phones; the highest we've had so far has been the 5-megapixel Motorola Zine ZN5 from T-Mobile. But that has all changed with the Samsung Memoir, also available from T-Mobile, which has a whopping 8-megapixel camera with plenty of features you wouldn't even find in most standalone point-and-shoot cameras. They include antishake, smile and blink detection, 12 preset settings for certain lighting conditions like portrait and landscape photography, and geotagging. Perhaps the most intriguing feature is that you can upload directly to online sharing sites … Read more

T-Mobile USA, the fourth-largest cell phone operator in the U.S., is launching new service promotions in an effort to keep long-term customers and attract new ones.
The company plans to offer a special $50 per month unlimited voice plan to longtime customers in San Francisco, initially. It will also offer new customers who switch from a competitor a $135 rebate, Reuters reported Thursday.
T-Mobile's new plan will only be available to San Francisco customers who have used its service for 22 months or more, according to a T-Mobile representative who spoke to Reuters. An analyst told the wire … Read more
We really don't know too much else about this, but Hiptop3.com have apparently spotted the latest Sidekick 2009, otherwise known as the Sidekick Blade, out in the wild. It looks pretty similar to the previous Sidekicks, but promises to be much thinner and lighter (Which, if you know Sidekicks at all, is a very welcome change), and it will apparently run Danger OS 5.0. It is also the first Sidekick since Microsoft bought over Danger. Like we said, there's very little else we know about the phone, but if the pictures are leaked already, it won'… Read more
Back in early February, Samsung revealed that it would bring its 8-megapixel camera phone, the Samsung Memoir, to T-Mobile by the end of the month, and the company has kept its promise.
The night before the official start of GSMA Mobile World Congress 2009 here in Barcelona, Samsung and T-Mobile held a joint press conference where they announced that the Samsung Memoir would be available starting February 25 for $249.99 with a two-year contract and after a $50 mail-in rebate.
The event was marked by a special guest appearance by supermodel Helena Christensen, who was on hand to endorse the Memoir. Now, you might be wondering what the connection is between a model and a camera phone, but Christensen also happens to be a photographer (who knew?) and was given the Memoir for a few days to use as her phone and camera throughout her travels in New York and Barcelona. Images that she took with the Memoir were then put on display at the event.
"As a photographer it was great for me to be the first to try the Memoir and to really experience everything it is capable of doing," said Christensen. "It's very important that my mobile phone also double up as a great camera, that way I always have my camera on hand to capture images at any moment. That's what a big part of photography is about." … Read more
On Thursday, TeleNav announced that starting February 24, it will make its location-based service, TeleNav GPS Navigator, available to T-Mobile G1 owners, bringing real-time turn-by-turn navigation to the Google Android smartphone.
In addition to turn-by-turn driving directions, TeleNav GPS Navigator offers traffic alerts with one-click rerouting, business searches (with more than 10 million listings), gas prices, weather updates, and restaurant reviews.
Speech recognition is also supported, meaning that you'll be able to press a button on the G1, dictate an address or business, and TeleNav will then route to the destination. Alternatively, you can preplan trips through TeleNav's … Read more
Good news for all T-Mobile customers. Starting Wednesday, the RIM BlackBerry Curve 8900 is now available to everyone for $199.99 with a two-year contract and after a mail-in rebate. The Curve 8900 was initially released on January 27, but only to the carrier's business customers. It can now be purchased by all online or at T-Mobile stores nationwide.
According to Engadget Mobile, there's also a possibility Best Buy will offer the BlackBerry Curve 8900 for $50 less at $149.99 with a two-year contract. However, there's been no official confirmation and if you simply can't … Read more
Rumblings about the Samsung Memoir have been sweeping through the blogosphere since the year began, but it was only late Wednesday when we finally heard the official word from Samsung. As expected, the Memoir, aka the SGH-T929, is an 8-megapixel camera phone that is winding up at none other than T-Mobile. We don't know the price or when it will be in stores, but Samsung promises that it will go on sale by the end of the month.
Similar to its cousin, the 8-megapixel Samsung Innov8, the Memoir walks a thin line between phone and camera. We hope that … Read more
Every so often (we can't discern a regular pattern), J.D. Power and Associates hands out awards to wireless carriers. Though we don't doubt that J.D. Power's methodology is thorough and careful, we do have a hard time keeping track of them all. There are awards for customer care, call quality, retail sales satisfaction, and overall customer satisfaction. And within each award, there can be multiple categories and individual winners in each region of the country.
