LG Display (LGD) is making progress on iPad Mini Retina panels and does not expect a delay until 2014 for the rumored Apple tablet, according to an Asia-based report.
The South Korean display maker is "making new headway" in producing Retina panels for use in the next-gen iPad mini, according to Digitimes, citing industry sources.
This will allow LGD to hit Apple's "expected October release date," the report said.

Apple could tap into LG Display for the panels for its much-rumored television, at least according to the latest scuttlebutt uncovered by DigiTimes.
Rumors have popped up that Apple is interested in buying 55-inch and 65-inch ultra HD TV panels from LG, DigiTimes said on Thursday. But LG hasn't won the deal just yet. Apple is reportedly still checking out the technology and hasn't actually finalized any orders.

South Korea is ramping up support for LTE-Advanced devices.
LG Uplus, South Korea's smallest mobile provider, has unveiled its own LTE-A network offering around twice the speed possible through regular LTE, Yonhap reported on Thursday. The new service is presently available in Seoul and a few other major cities, but it will reportedly branch out to the rest of the country by the end of September.
In June, fellow Korean provider SK Telecom launched the world's first LTE-Advanced network.

LG Electronics' next flagship handset will officially be known as the G2, a move that marks the retirement of the Optimus brand for its premium line of smartphones, the electronics maker confirmed late Wednesday.
