Sprint announced today that it will be offering the waterproof Kyocera Hydro Edge on July 19 for $19.99, after users sign a two-year agreement and send in a mail-in-rebate.
The midlevel 3G device will also be available on Boost Mobile for the prepaid price of $149.99 starting July 23.
Aside from being able to survive in a meter of water for 30 minutes, the smartphone has a 4-inch display, with a 800x480-pixel resolution.
It ships with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, a 1GHz dual-core Snapdragon processor, and a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera.

Softbank has officially completed its $21.6 billion acquisition of Sprint Nextel, Sprint announced Wednesday, finally closing a merger prolonged by a bidding war between SoftBank and Dish Network.
Japan-based Softbank is paying $7.65 per share in cash (about $16.6 billion) for a 78 percent ownership stake in the new company. The deal, which Sprint shareholders overwhelmingly approved late last month, won the unanimous approval of the Federal Communications Commission last week.

The company announced the news on Tuesday, saying that it now owns 100 percent of Clearwire. Sprint previously owned about 50 percent of the wireless company.
Sprint initially offered $2.97 per share for Clearwire. However, after concern over the valuation from shareholders and an unsolicited bid from Dish, Sprint changed its tune and upped its offer to $5 per share. Dish bowed out after the carrier upped its bid.
