Among LG's numerous HDTV introductions at CES 2008, which include eight series of LCD HDTVs, one of which features an LED backlight, the company also introduced a series of wireless models. The LG71 series has two members, the 47-inch 47LG71 and the 52-inch 52LG71. Today LG announced a total of eight (!) series of LCD televisions for 2008, all of which include the letters "LG" in the model number. The flagship model, the 47-inch 47LG75, is the company's first to include an LED-powered backlight. Samsung was the first large-screen LCD maker to mass-produce LED backlights with its LN-T81F series, of which we reviewed the 46-inch LN-T4681F, and in that model we really liked the improved contrast ratio caused by the LEDs' ability to turn off, and so produce a darker shade of black. The long-anticipated set-top box from Netflix is headed toward your living room this summer, according to several major news providers including the Associated Press, The New York Times, and Reuters. LG.Philips, one of the major worldwide LCD panel suppliers, is planning to debut a series of mammoth touch screens, including two so-called world-first commercial flat panels: a 52-inch multi-touch and a 47-inch triple-view HDTV.

The former has an ultra-high 1,920x1,080 resolution and the ability to recognize two touch points, as well as gestures. Its high responsiveness is also capable of picking up more exacting writing instruments, thereby improving interactivity.

The HDTV, meanwhile, can display three images to viewers standing at various angles simultaneously. It's intended for such uses as in-store directories and shopping mall advertising.

It appears the the LG Voyager had a very good November. According to a study conducted by Compete, a Boston-based Internet analytics company, the Voyager was the most-shopped cell phone during the last month. While Compete's definition of "most shopped" is a tad loose--the number of unique visitors to a handset's detail page on a carrier Web site--it's still noteworthy that a model only launched in November would beat out even the super-hyped Apple iPhone, which won fourth place. So I'm back from vacation where I tested the Voyager for twelve days. You know I love to take phones into the wild and really live with them. It was very revealing in this case.

Being on vacation I used the camera a lot. The pictures were acceptable, not great. I expected better phone quality. Isn't that quaint? Just in time for the holidays, LG and Verizon Wireless have come out with a glossy red version of the VX8350. It has all the same features as the original gray version, which include V Cast support, a microSD card slot, stereo Bluetooth, and a 1.3-megapixel camera.
