"Today we're revolutionizing pricing," said Apple's senior vice president of software engineering Craig Federighi, right before announcing that the company would be giving away OS X Mavericks, Apple's new flagship Mac operating system. On the screen behind him, the word "Free" appeared from behind a glimmer of light, one of the hokey slide animations … Read more
Another prediction has come true: the iPad Mini got thicker and heavier.
While everyone is oohing and aahing over the display, they may not notice that the just-announced iPad Mini with Retina display is a little thicker than the original Mini.

Lines are likely to begin forming shortly for Apple's new iPads. The company unveiled two new models at a special fall press event in San Francisco on Tuesday. The iPad Mini with Retina Display now includes a faster processor, improved graphics, and a high-resolution screen, and the larger iPad also received an improved design and a performance boost.

T-Mobile fans have a reason to be excited after Tuesday's iPad event.
Apple's Web site lists T-Mobile as an option for both the iPad Air and the iPad Mini with Retina Display with Wi-Fi and cellular data. This is the first time Apple tablets will be available on the carrier.

Just before introducing a brand-new model of the iPad on Tuesday, Apple made it a point to show off the many things people can do with iPads. From work to play to athletic training to taking a nap on the side of a mountain, the company's tablet can help just about anyone do just about anything, the company claimed.
But that's not how competitors see it. Microsoft in particular has taken the iPad to task since the introduction of its own Surface tablet, pointing to things like the Surface's optional keyboard-type covers and built-in Office software as … Read more
