Several companies have tried to launch DIY video security systems that promise no-hassle setup for average consumers. But most have failed.

Now Logitech is giving it a shot with its new Alert digital video security system, which it says, "Takes just a few minutes to set-up through a three-step process." The base 750i Master System ($299.99) includes a "smart" HD camera that captures 720p video, both PC and Web software, and free remote viewing on a PC or Mac computer or smartphone (app required).

Logitech wants to pay you to promote Google TV

The first wave of Google TV devices is right around the corner. To kick it off, Logitech is running a contest called the "Host with the Most" that will put its Google TV-stuffed Revue set-top box in the hands of users ahead of its official launch so that they can show it off to people they know. For the three winners there are some pretty serious strings attached though, including dedicating 20 hours a week for 10 weeks to host 50 to 70 marketing parties for the device.

Just a few days after Apple unveiled its FaceTime video chat for the iPhone 4, Logitech is getting in on the video-calling action with a  new line of affordable HD Webcams, one of which captures 1080p resolution video. The line includes the HD Webcam C270 ($39.99), HD Webcam C310 ($49.99), HD Webcam C510 ($59.99), and the HD Webcam Pro C910 ($99.99). The C270, C310, and C510 will be available this month, while the C910 arrives on the market in August.

Logitech is ready to indulge your deepest fantasies--if, that is, those fantasies involve a pink or blue computer mouse with a pattern on it. The device maker is out with a new Fantasy Collection, a series of peripherals including mice, keyboards, portable lap desks, and Webcams, in various colors and designs.
