Verizon's HTC M7 could come to life as a Droid DNA refresh

Verizon may soon debut a refreshed version of the HTC Droid DNA smartphone, according to newly uncovered details leaked by software developer and HTC insider @LlabTooFeR.

Hardware specifications for a model known as "DLXPLUS" suggest that the nation's largest wireless provider could be readying a device with details that are not unlike the rumored HTC M7.

HTC to counter revenue sag with cheaper phones in China

Taiwanese firm HTC said Monday that it expects profit margins to continue sliding in the wake of increased competition by rival firms including Apple and Samsung.

HTC says that it expects revenue to drop by 17 percent in the three months leading to March 31, based on results from the fourth quarter of 2012, which is worse than forecast by analysts.

The smartphone maker expects first-quarter revenue of between NT$50 billion to NT$60 billion (US$1.69 billion to US$2.03 billion). According to Reuters, this figure is lower than analyst forecasts of NT$62.77 in … Read more

Battle cry: HTC's CEO leads the 'M7' chant

Do you know who's overflowing with excitement for the not-yet-official HTC M7 smartphone? None other than HTC CEO Peter Chou, of course.

A video from HTC's year-end party shows the company's head honcho on stage playing with the M7, and even snapping photos of the crowd. Chou can be seen rallying a team of employees with a battle cry.

During the video, Chou chants "HTC" a few times, followed by a couple of rounds of "M7," and finally capped off with screams of "HTC One!"

HTC schedules Feb. 19 New York event -- flagship coming?

HTC may be set to unveil its next big thing on February 19.

The troubled Taiwanese handset manufacturer sent out invitations to an event set for that date in New York. There is little information beyond the timing and location.

The event is scheduled to start at 7 a.m. PT (10 a.m. ET) that day. There will be a simultaneous HTC event in London.
