In response to the uproar over spotty reception for new iPhone 4, Apple CEO Steve Jobs spoke Friday to defend the company's handling of the matter.

Apple has identified a problem with some its Time Capsule wireless backup devices and is offering to repair or replace them.

According to a note posted on its site, some Time Capsules sold between February 2008 and June 2008 could shut down unexpectedly or may not power on at all. A quick search of Apple's support site shows a variety of threads from customers with the problem.

Apple said that some Time Capsules with serial numbers between XX807XXXXXX and XX814XXXXXX may be affected. The serial number is found on the bottom of the device..
