Getting started with Xbox Music on Windows 8

Xbox Music was initially announced in June of this year and released to Xbox 360 users first. When Windows 8 reached general availability on October 26, Xbox Music became available to all Windows 8 users as well. Like Spotify, Microsoft's new music service can stream full songs on demand, as well as play taste-based radio like Pandora. Here's what you need to know to get started with Xbox Music on Windows 8:

Rockstar sets Grand Theft Auto V for spring 2013

Developer Rockstar Games announced today a worldwide spring 2013 release period for Grand Theft Auto V for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, inspiring gamers everywhere to brush up on their reckless-driving skills.

Microsoft releases SmartGlass app to Google Play store

Microsoft's big week continued today with a new app release. Xbox SmartGlass for Android hit the Google Play store this afternoon.

SmartGlass offers a slick second-screen experience for Xbox 360. Developers of Xbox apps can use SmartGlass to let users interact with TV shows, movies, sports and games. The technology, which was first shown off at E3 this year, will eventually turn smartphones and tablets into second screens and controllers for a variety of games and apps.

Microsoft SmartGlass connects your Xbox to your mobile device

Your smartphone or tablet will soon be able to control and display games and movies from an Xbox 360.

Set to be released along with Windows 8 this Friday, Microsoft's new SmartGlass app is designed to bridge the gap between the Xbox and mobile devices.

The free app will naturally support Windows 8 and Windows RT tablets and PCs as well as Windows Phone 8 devices. But it will also run on iOS and Android devices.

Microsoft has expanded its Xbox 360 discount program -- for those willing to pay for a monthly online subscription as well.

The company announced on its Xbox page recently that customers will soon be able to buy the 250GB Xbox 360 for $99 and the 250GB Xbox 360 with Kinect for $149. The 250GB console without Kinect usually retails for $299.99. Adding Kinect to the mix pushes the price to $399.99.

Trailer: BioShock Infinite goes to the next level

With BioShock Infinite still months away, developer Irrational Games released a teaser trailer highlighting gameplay from the highly anticipated third installment of the series.

Previous BioShock games revolved around an underwater city called Rapture, but Infinite's story line -- set in the year 1912 -- takes place in a floating city names Columbia. Amazon has launched a way for teachers to easily push out reading assignments through a Kindle. Today's tech news roundup looks at Whispercast, which allows organizations to manage books and documents synced to a group of Kindle accounts. Xbox 360 to get Internet Explorer with Windows 8 release

It's official, users will soon be able to surf the Web on their Xbox 360. Microsoft announced today that the Internet Explorer browser will be included with a new update to the Xbox 360 dashboard. The update will come with the release of Windows 8 on October 26.
