Nintendo turns on TVii for Wii U

Nintendo has taken the wraps off a new entertainment experience for its Wii U.

The company's COO, Reggie Fils-Aime, today announced a new initiative known as Nintendo TVii that's designed to help users find and watch television shows, movies, and sports broadcasts. The offering comes with Netflix, Hulu Plus, and Amazon Instant Video support. It also integrates with TiVo DVRs. Upon clicking a channel listing on the Wii U GamePad controller, users can also watch it directly through their televisions.

Nintendo Wii U to go on sale in Japan on Dec. 8 for $335

Nintendo today announced the Japanese release date and price details for the new Wii U console. The system will be available in that market starting December 8 and will cost 26,250 yen ($335) and up.

The Wii U will feature 2GB of RAM: 1GB for games and 1GB for system memory. Also, Wii game discs will sport a 25 GB capacity.

Nintendo's iconic Zelda series will arrive on the Wii U in 2014, according to a new report at Wii U Daily.

A source from Nintendo's Japanese office claims the company has assembled the biggest team in company history, numbering "hundreds" of developers, to work on the most expensive project in company history.

"This is Rockstar/GTA territory," the source said.

Nintendo Wii U pricing, release date revealed?

We still don't officially know when the Wii U arrives or how much it costs, but a substantial rumor emerged today concerning Video Product Distributors -- a wholesale media distribution company that works with companies such as Amazon and Newegg -- supposedly listing on its intranet three Wii U bundles along with a November 11 release date.

Video Product Distributors and Nintendo did not immediately reply to CNET's request for comment.
