Samsung launching mini stores in Best Buy shops, report says

Samsung may soon be launching mini stores within Best Buy stores, according to a new report, giving the Korean electronics giant some retail heft just in time for the Galaxy S4 launch.

According to Geek.com, certain high-traffic Best Buy locations will soon remove two aisles near their mobile departments to install new Samsung stores. Each section "will be dressed in large Samsung signage and offer custom demo stations for many of Samsung's products," the site said. Employees in each section will receive special training about how to demo Samsung-specific features.

Galaxy S4 priced at $249.99 with contract at AT&T

AT&T said today it would begin taking pre-orders for the Samsung Galaxy S4, which it is pricing at $249.99 with a two-year contract.

Eager customers can place their order starting April 16. AT&T hasn't yet announced when the smartphone would actually hit stores, and a representative declined to provide a specific date.

The Samsung Galaxy S4 is now up for preorder in the U.K., giving hopeful shoppers the chance to throw money Samsung's way ahead of the phone's official launch on April 26.

A recent analysis of Twitter activity during the debut of Apple and Samsung's latest smartphones shows a wide difference in how much both products were mentioned.

That study, done by Investing Analytics, showed that the iPhone 5 was mentioned in more than five times the number of tweets than the Galaxy S4 on the day of and the day after their respective unveilings.

AT&T updates Samsung Galaxy Express to Jelly Bean

AT&T today announced that the Samsung Galaxy Express has started receiving an Android 4.1 update.

The relatively newish Samsung Galaxy Express is Ma Bell's latest Android to see the Jelly Bean update. As is the case with other Android 4.1 updates, notable improvements include Google Now, enriched notifications, and smarter widgets.

Samsung Galaxy S4 comes to T-Mobile around May 1

T-Mobile will carry the Samsung Galaxy S4 on or before May 1, chief marketing officer Mike Sievert told CNET today at an event in New York.

The newly prepaid-only carrier is the first to officially announce Samsung's upcoming marquee phone, but others are expected to follow.

It isn't clear yet how much the Galaxy S4 will cost on T-Mobile's newly unsubsidized plans, but it will likely be in the same range as the Galaxy S3 is now, about $600.

T-Mobile continues to rev up the changes it's got in store for customers.

The wireless carrier today seems to have finally done away entirely with contracts for wireless customers. This follows earlier moves that had allowed options including either a traditional two-year contract or no contract at all.
