Done. In the books. No more Samsung Galaxy S III rumors or leaks to worry about ever again.

Though Android fans in the United States still have to guess about a release date, at least we know what Samsung has been working on for the past few months. So was it all worth it? At first blush, I say the answer is a resounding yes.

CTIA 2012: A later date spells change

CNET is headed to New Orleans next week, home to CTIA 2012, the annual springtime congregation of cell phone makers, wireless carriers, and all manner of players in the cell phone industry.

Samsung's Galaxy S III has ears and eyes just for you

Samsung says its newest smartphone, the Galaxy S III, has the brains to discern the sound of your specific voice and face from others.

Equipped with what the company calls Natural Interaction technology, the handset has a Smart Stay function that uses its front-facing camera to figure out if you're looking directly at it. In theory, the device will know not to, say, dim the screen when you need to view its display for extended periods. Samsung unveils Galaxy S III phone with quad-core, Android ICS

Samsung today announced the highly-anticipated Samsung Galaxy S III at a major press event in London. The quad-core, high-definition, Ice Cream Sandwich smartphone will be Samsung's most advanced Android handset yet, and will challenge the iPhone and the well-received HTC One X Android smartphone in the coming months.

The Galaxy S III will sell in Europe in May, followed by other regions worldwide. An LTE version of the phone is expected to come to the U.S. in summer, a year after the Samsung Galaxy Nexus launched on Verizon.

Many of the phone's rumored features have, in fact, come to pass. The Galaxy S III features Samsung's quad-core Exynos processor, a 4.8-inch HD AMOLED screen, and an 8-megapixel camera.
