Wii-dar: FindNearby.net locates game consoles

Boston--I just met with Andy Estes, the ambitious CEO of Nearby Networks, which runs FindNearby.net. This service is a mashup of Google Maps, Amazon, eBay, Craiglist, and WalMart.com. You tell it where you are and what you are looking to buy, and it will find the items available for sale near you. Items are color-coded on the map by type of sale (auction, private party sale, retail). Auctions about to expire are red.

FoxyTunes Planet gets music discovery right

The team behind the popular browser extension FoxyTunes is hard at work on a new mashup site that integrates the music controls of FoxyTunes with an aggregation tool to give you more information and media about your favorite musical artists and new discoveries.

Aggregate and organize your feeds with Blorq

Blorq is a straightforward RSS and Atom feed aggregator that compiles all the newest content you want to track. Blorq uses a relatively snappy interface that enables you to quickly browse and add feeds. There's a few neat Ajax effects thrown in, so reading stories doesn't require actually visiting the site, just clicking the title. There's also some simple keyboard shortcuts that let you navigate through stories and rate them for later viewing.

Spokeo, which bills itself as the "Trillian of social networks," does a very useful thing: It takes data feeds from multiple social networks that you participate in (such as MySpace, Xanga, and so forth), and gives you one overview page where you can see what's up with all your buddies' pages.
