Jaymar may be the newest member of the CNET Downloads team, but that hasn't stopped him from diving head first into Windows software and the always-expanding world of Android apps. He's reviewed a ton of titles already, and one look at his "to-do" list shows that he has many more to come. When he's not working, he's been known to trek in the outdoors, train in Mixed Martial Arts, and explore off-the-beaten-path eateries.

Jaymar is all about using Android to its full potential, and his app picks reflect that. Without ever leaving his phone, he can read the latest news, locate the hottest new restaurant, get daily deals, and even find a perfect stranger to pick up his dry cleaning. He also searches for the latest apps that he can review and he revives a classic Nintendo video game by plucking off a few low-flying ducks.… Read more

Antuan Goodwin traveled all the way from Georgia to join CNET. Did he drive the whole distance? Well, we're not really sure, but it would make sense given his role as one of CNET's car tech reviewers. From Hyundais to Land Rovers, he's driven vehicles of all sizes and power across all corners of the Bay Area. He also tests GPS devices and car stereos and is an affirmed fan of all things Android. In fact, you can catch him every Thursday on CNET's Android Atlas podcast.

Antuan's two great loves--cars and zombies--fill his list of top apps. Indeed, when he's not finding his way on the road, he's listening to podcasts, managing his gadgets, and keeping in touch with both hands on the wheel. Outside of the car, he spends his time battling a range of zombies and playing (surprise!) the occasional auto racing game. … Read more

Indeed if I were a cell phone and ended up on her desk, I'd be scared to death.

When she's in the office, Jessica works hard. And when she's out, she works hard at having fun, staying organized, and keeping up with her friends and family. Google Voice and Skype populate her list, along with apps for shopping, eating out, and cooking at home. Thunderbolt update nixes unlimited mobile hot spots

The software update being made available to the HTC Thunderbolt this week may be just the latest reminder that carriers not only giveth, but also taketh way.

Hidden behind all of the benefits, bug fixes, and improvements, Verizon has quietly removed the unlimited and free access to the embedded hot-spot functionality, according to DSL Reports. In other words, instead of being able to use the feature as they wish, Thunderbolt users now will have to contact Verizon to activate the hot spot and add the corresponding service plan.

While that's not a huge shock given Verizon's new monthly charges for using the hot-spot feature, it's just another sign of the new data regime at Big Red. Verizon even foreshadowed the change last month in a statement posted by Droid Life in which it warned that the free hot-spot promotion would end July 6 (the day before the carrier subsequently ended its unlimited data plans). … Read more

Sprint's M2M lab: Where machines do the talking

Though Sprint is best known as the country's third-largest wireless carrier, the company does a lot more than just deliver voice and data service to your cell phone. Its network also powers M2M, or machine-to-machine, solutions that enable machines to talk to each other without a human getting in the way.
