The Pioneer AppRadio is one of our favorite car stereos thanks to its ability to display and control certain car-centric apps with its 7-inch touch screen in your dashboard. While the list of supported apps is long, it's far from all-inclusive. The AppRadio app on your smartphone powers the on-screen interface for the car stereo and acts as the gatekeeper, deciding what apps on your phone can be displayed. But what if you want to use a navigation app that isn't on the supported list? If you're an Android user and don't mind tinkering with your … Read more
No, I can't believe Radio Shack can actually emerge from its '80s bunker. But you have to admire the effort. And, frankly, the honesty in admitting what it had become.
Many chose the ad in which stars from the 1980s arrive at a Radio Shack with the express purpose of gutting it as their favorite ad of the night.
So, as the company watched its shares rise just because of that ad, it pumped out more videos to make you believe that '80s were just a phase it went through for around 30 years.
Here's Cliff Clavin from &… Read more

Who shops in a shack? Bad things always happen in shacks. No one's ever happy in a shack.

An amusing Super Bowl ad begins with a Radio Shack employee taking a call.
He tells his sidekick: "The '80s called. They want their store back."
What follows is a thing of beauty. The 1980s were always known for their beauty, … Read more

The National Security Agency is using secret wireless technology that allows it to access and alter data on computers, even when they are not connected to the Internet, according to a New York Times report.
Since 2008, the agency has been increasingly using a "covert channel of radio waves" that can transmit from hardware installed in the computers, according to NSA documents and experts interviewed by the Times. Signals can then be sent to briefcase-size relay stations miles away, according to the report.
The NSA has also installed surveillance software on nearly 100,000 computers around the world, … Read more
Everybody likes fewer ads -- and Pandora is giving it to drivers.
As part of the 2014 Consumer Electronics Show, the Internet's top radio service said it would launch 15- and 30-second audio ads specific to automobile listeners across all 400 vehicles and automotive devices that feature Pandora -- which includes 130 car models with native Pandora integration, as well as 270 aftermarket automotive devices.
The highlight for consumers is that Pandora will deliver fewer audio ads to these free listeners than on any other Pandora platform. (Pandora premium subscribers will continue to have ad-free listening.)
