Epic's Infinity Blade sequel delay puts it in iPad 4 territory

The work-in-progress game title used to demonstrate the graphical power of Apple's latest iPad may not be ready until Apple debuts the iPad 4.

Infinity Blade: Dungeons, the top-down, dungeon exploring meets finger swashbuckling hybrid that Epic Games demonstrated live on stage at the third-generation iPad's unveiling in March, is now said to be in ongoing development, with no firm release date.

The reason? Developer Impossible Studios, which Epic put together in early August from former employees of Big Huge Games, has been "busy adding their great ideas to the game," according to an interview with … Read more

Phantom iPad Mini 'delayed'

Rumors about an iPad Mini arriving in October have taken a shellacking over the last couple of days.

First, the expected October 10 invites didn't go out. Now a report in Digitimes claims there's a production delay -- a delay that could mean the device won't show up till after October.

If there is a device. The iPad Mini is, of course, an unconfirmed product to begin with. So it's hard to say with a straight face that a rumored product can actually be delayed.

(Update: A report now says the event will take place on … Read more

Low Latency No. 31: Tweets straight from the judge's table

It seems die-hard Olympics fans hate the Internet now that results are posted instantaneously. The drama that prime-time coverage can usually deliver is somewhat dampened by the fact that a list of winners is readily available quicker than the time it takes to turn on a TV.

Even if you casually browse a site like Twitter, you're bound to accidentally uncover some breaking news from the Summer Games. Come to think of it, it's probably harder to shield yourself from the news than it is to find it out. … Read more

RIM bets on quality, not speed, as it fends off death spiral

With unprecedented losses, evaporating market share, and enough competitive pressure to smash it into irrelevancy, you'd think Research In Motion would show a bit of urgency.

In fact, it's showing quite the opposite.

Rather than rush out a half-baked product, the company said last week that it would push back the debut of BlackBerry 10 from later this year to the first quarter of 2013. Company executives say they believe the extra time will pay off with a more complete product.

"Doing it right is more important than doing it fast," Richard Piasentin, RIM's managing … Read more

Samsung resolves Galaxy S III shipping delays

Sprint warned last week that delivery of the Samsung Galaxy S III smartphone would be delayed because of "overwhelming demand and limited supply." Around the same time, AT&T and Amazon distributor BluTekUSA announced the same.

It appears Samsung Electronics wasn't quite prepared for the wild popularity of its mobile phone. The smartphone-maker has said it was expecting to sell more than 10 million units in the first two months of sale, according to Reuters. Delays in shipping this device may have cost the company 2 million units of sale in just one month.

Samsung's blue Galaxy S III faces delay due to paint issues

Samsung apparently has difficulties with the color blue.

The "pebble blue" variant of its highly anticipated Galaxy S III smartphone faces delays due to issues with getting the color and its newly invented "hyper-glaze" process, according to several reports. HTC One X delay benefits Lumia 900 at AT&T

Nokia may not admit it, but the company is likely jumping for joy that the HTC One X is having trouble getting into the U.S.

Nokia's own Lumia 900, which has enjoyed its flagship smartphone status at AT&T for the past few weeks, could see its preeminent position at the carrier extended as a result of the One X's delay. U.S. customs officials have held up imports of the One X because of a patent dispute between Apple and HTC.

A few extra weeks as AT&T's top dog could do wonders … Read more

Justice Department closes probe into Google Street View

Google released information today that the U.S. Justice Department investigation into the company's use of wireless networks while working on the Street View project closed as of last May.

This information comes within a report that the Internet giant filed with the Federal Communications Commission today, according to Bloomberg. The Justice Department decided, "it would not pursue a case for violation of the Wiretap Act," Google said in the filing.

There have been a handful of government investigations into how Google's Street View cars collected the personal and private data of individuals via wireless networks … Read more
