Boost, Virgin get their own new Samsung Galaxy phones

Samsung Electronics is giving some love to prepaid wireless providers Boost Mobile and Virgin Mobile.

The two prepaid players, both units of Sprint Nextel, will each be getting their own Galaxy smartphones.

Boost will be getting its own version of the Galaxy S2, Samsung's next-most-recent flagship smartphone. Virgin Mobile will be getting its first Galaxy smartphone, the Galaxy Reverb.

Slated to kick off July 10, Boost Mobile's BBM Unlimited plan will provide worldwide and unlimited access to RIM's BlackBerry Messenger service. Starting today, Boost Mobile will pepper the airwaves with its first in a trio of national spots to advertise its brand-new 4G network in general, and the HTC EVO Design 4G in particular.

Cricket may have been the first prepaid carrier to snag the iPhone in late June, but if Sprint has its way, it won't be the last.

Apple's iPhone 4 and 4S will head to Sprint prepaid carrier Boost Mobile in early September, according to a "trusted" TechnoBuffalo source.

Boost Mobile's first 4G phone: The HTC Evo Design 4G

Boost Mobile is getting into the 4G mix with the launch of the HTC Evo Design 4G.

The smartphone, which will launch on May 31, comes with a 4-inch qHD, or 960x540-pixel resolution, touch screen and Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich). In addition, the handset boasts a 1.2GHz processor, a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera to complement its 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera, and Wi-Fi hot-spot functionality.
