BARCELONA, Spain -- Sony is showcasing its new SmartBand wearable technology product in the flesh here at MWC 2014. The wrist-worn device acts as part pedometer and part lifestyle tracker. In fact Sony envisions the gadget to go way beyond typical activity measurement, serving as a digital log for your life.
Design Designwise, the Sony SmartBand looks very similar to other fitness trackers on the market, such as the Fitbit Flex, Jawbone Up24, and Nike Fuelband SE. I'd even say the SmartBand could be a snazzier cousin to the Flex since it uses a similar modular construction. Like the … Read more
The Apple iPad Air might be a slick piece of design, but dunk it in the bath and it'll quickly turn into a lifeless slab. Enter the Sony Xperia Z2 tablet -- a 10.1-inch slate that is completely waterproof. It replaces Sony's existing Xperia Tablet Z, but packs in a new quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor clocked at 2.3GHz, adds the latest Android KitKat software and slims the design down to only 6.4mm thick.
The Xperia Z2 Tablet is due to go on sale in the UK and wider Europe in March. Sony has yet to … Read more
The Sony Xperia Z2 is the latest flagship super-phone from Sony, replacing the Z1 released last year. The new phone keeps the same aluminium-edged design, sexy glass front and back, Full HD display, quad-core processor and impressive 20.7-megapixel camera. Like its predecessor, it's completely waterproof.
You might wonder then exactly what is new on the Z2.
Well, it has a slightly larger 5.2-inch display, slimmer bezels around the edge, a marginally faster 2.3GHz Qualcomm processor, the latest Android 4.4.2 KitKat software and a camera capable of capturing 4K video. Although those are … Read more
Sony's flagship Xperia Z2 smartphone might steal the headlines with its Full HD display, supercharged processor and 4K video recording, but if you fancy a phone with a more reasonable price tag, check out the new Xperia M2.
The M2 has a similar-looking glass front and back design to the rest of the recent Xperia range. Inside, it's packing a 1.2GHz quad-core processor, a 960x540-pixel display and an 8-megapixel camera. Those are hardly eye-popping specs, but the M2 will apparently come with a competitive mid-range price.
Sony has yet to say exactly how much it will be, … Read more
