LAS VEGAS--If life's like a box of chocolates, this week in Crave from CES is like a table full of sandwiches--the same sandwiches day after day after day after day.

OK, here's the inside joke. The fine catering services here at the Las Vegas Convention Center bring us lunch every day; it's a delicious selection of wraps and sandwiches, but it's not all that wide a selection. LAS VEGAS--The show floor at the Consumer Electronics Show is astonishingly crowded.

Walking around, you're bombarded from all sides by booming speakers, action-packed videos playing on screens of all sizes, and people eagerly hoping you'll allow them to give you a demo of whatever product they're representing.

Women in tech: Come to CES, claim your voice

It's not news that women don't come to CES in droves--it's always been this way.

When I bring up the topic, I often get this response from both men and women, sometimes with a shrug: "Women just don't like technology the same way that men do," or "It's like sports; men care about the fiddling with technology. Women just want it to work." The prevailing thinking is that men are from GadgetLand and women are from...somewhere else. And no one seems particularly upset about it.
