Looking at the widget on the bottom of the home screen we see mention of a May 22 "Samsung Unpacked" taking place in London. Though we don't have confirmation of such an event, Samsung has held "Unpacked" press conferences previously. The date, however, certainly would match up with … Read more

HTC smartphones and tablets may get PlayStation certification first

The Sony PlayStation mobile gaming empire could expand its borders to HTC gadgets next.

That's right, if a Pocket-lint report pans out, you'll be able to play PlayStation-branded game titles on on HTC smartphones and tablets soon.

My instant reaction to this nugget of potential news was joy and giddiness. Perhaps I'll be finally be able to enjoy a few PSP breaks during my daytime commute. Then cold hard reality set in when I realized PlayStation certified doesn't mean PSP certified.

Remember the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play? That was a device full of promise, billed to … Read more

Huawei to unveil quad-core Diamond series Android in Barcelona?

Huawei to unveil quad-core Diamond series Android in Barcelona?

If you ask an average Android user to name the top smartphone brands in the United States, it's unlikely that Huawei would be an answer.

After releasing a string of entry-level and midrange devices across some of the smaller carriers, Huawei has been pushing steadily forward with high-end hardware. And with specs that rival the recent offerings out of HTC, Samsung, and Motorola, the company is positioning itself as a dark horse.

Take, for instance, the Ascend P1S, announced at CES earlier this year. At only 6.68mm thick, it somehow manages to sneak in a 1.5GHz dual-core … Read more
