Play games in surround sound

Your game console is connected to an HDTV, but great video is only half the experience. You're not truly in the game unless you're immersed in surround-sound audio from the front, sides, and rear.

Why you should play games in surround sound.

What the editors say
1

Immersive audio means better gameplay.

Ask any Halo player: aural cues are just as important as visual ones. Unleashing the surround-sound capability of your game console will add an extra dimension to your gameplay.

2

Maximize your game collection.

The stereo sound you're hearing from your TV's puny speakers represents only a fraction of a game's audio potential. Many games--especially those for Xbox and Xbox 360--are encoded with a soundtrack that directs specific sounds to each speaker in a surround-audio system.

3

Surround sound actually means fewer wires.

Everybody's seen a standard analog stereo-audio connection--the red and white RCA jacks. But one of the great advantages of surround sound is that it only requires one wire: the PS2 and Xbox use a single optical digital audio cable.
