EMS 
Enhanced Message Service 
An extension to SMS for mobile phones that use GSM, TDMA, and CDMA networks. An EMS-enabled handset can send and receive messages that include formatted text, animations, images, and sound effects. If such messages are sent to non-EMS phones, the messages are displayed as simple text transmissions.
