UUencode
Like MIME, UUencode lets you send binary files over the Internet. UUencode converts binary data into ASCII text format, which can then be inserted into an e-mail message. The receiving program uses a UUdecode utility to convert the text back to binary format. The name UUencode was taken from "Unix-to-Unix encoding," but UUencode and UUdecode are now cross-platform standards.
