The security news last week just would not stop, and IE was practically on the 10 Most Wanted list as a bank robber, thanks to malicious code that uses advertising pop-ups to steal data from bank Web sites. Not surprisingly, CNET readers wanted to know more. |

Security freak-out
The Internet Explorer onslaught continued unabated last week, and the message seems to be getting through to you. Maybe it's all our nagging--or maybe it's the constant reports of vulnerabilities, culminating in last week's news about pop-up ads that can actually harvest passwords and other data from bank Web sites. Either way, searches for "browsers," Mozilla, and Firefox dominated our network, giving us reason to hope that you've seen the light.

Missing iMacs
It's funny that announcing a shortage would send so many of you scrambling for Apple news last week. Apple admitted that it does have a new iMac coming, but not for a couple of months. Worse: Apple has already stopped selling the old iMacs, and store shelves will have long since emptied when the crucial back-to-school selling period begins. Do you have the feeling that somebody got fired for that?

Fahrenheit 9/11 swapping
So, Michael Moore has said that he essentially condones movie piracy and opposes draconian copyright protection laws. Then this guy Jim Kenefick of MooreWatch.com, who opposes Moore, posted a link to a pirated version of Fahrenheit 9/11, available for download with BitTorrent. He says, by golly, he'll pirate the movie and see how Michael Moore likes it. But if a bunch of people download Moore's movie and watch it, then maybe end up agreeing with him, hasn't Jim kind of put a dent in his own cause? Maybe he just didn't think that all the way through.

Archos AV320 Video Recorder
Wait, now this is weird. When we first saw search results for an Archos portable video player popping up, we thought, "Yeah, duh, the Archos AV400 is like a portable TiVo with improved capabilities over the previous models and a new internal CompactFlash reader--these folks have taste!" But it turns out you were all searching for the Archos AV320, the previous model. Granted, the AV320 is pretty cool, and prices will probably go down now that the AV400 is out, but guys, guys. Trust us. The AV400 is way cooler.
