Software corrections
Ulead DVD MovieFactory 3.0 Disc Creator
Correction: In our initial review of Ulead MovieFactory 3.0, we mistakenly stated that Ulead had discontinued phone support. In fact, it had not. We have updated our review to correct this error. (2/19/04)

Adobe Photoshop CS, Adobe Illustrator CS, Adobe InDesign CS, and Adobe GoLive CS
Update: Shortly after the Adobe Photoshop CS, Adobe Illustrator CS, Adobe InDesign CS, and Adobe GoLive CS reviews appeared, Adobe changed its technical support policy to offer free tech support for installation and product defect issues. (1/28/04)

Microsoft Office System
Correction: In the introduction, we incorrectly stated that InfoPath was not available in any bundled edition; in fact, it is available in Microsoft Office Enterprise Professional, which is not sold in retail stores, but is available only through volume licensing. We also incorrectly stated that FrontPage was available in the Professional Edition; it is available only as a standalone app. (10/23/03)

SpamKiller 4.0
Correction: Our review of SpamKiller 4.0 incorrectly listed AOL Mail as one of its available e-mail clients. That is not correct. We regret the error. (1/24/03)

Intuit TurboTax Deluxe Tax Year 2002 for Windows
Correction: CNET incorrectly stated in its review of Intuit TurboTax Deluxe 2002 that in order to print or e-file multiple returns from one PC, you had to pay for another TurboTax license. We have corrected this statement. While you don't have to pay a new license fee to print multiple returns from one computer, you do have to, as always, pay the e-file fee for each return you submit online. (1/23/03)

Norton Internet Security and Norton Personal Firewall
Update: Although we strive to review only the final code from the software vendor, Symantec removed a feature from its Norton Personal Firewall 2003 and Norton Internet Security 2003 packages after our review first appeared. The feature, which allowed users to migrate their custom settings from previous versions of the apps--a feature we liked--"was dropped at the last minute due to problems," said a Symantec spokesperson. Inside @ccess
Correction: CNET stated in a recent column that Traffix Inc. of Pearl River, New York, was cited for 112 violations of New York State's Telemarketing statute and fined $244,000. Traffix was not cited for any such violations, nor was it fined. In fact, Psychic Readers Network (PRN) was charged with the violations and fined $224,000. CNET regrets this error.

According to the New York State Consumer Protection Board, "E-mails from 'Miss Cleo' and PRN are distributed by Traffix Inc., a direct marketing company in Pearl River, N.Y. Traffix has had a long-standing business relationship with PRN. It has operated PRN's telemarketing and provided network services while agreeing to drop its own 900 psychic service. Now Traffix provides a means for 'Miss Cleo' to reach millions of people through e-mail generated by a Traffix website called GroupLotto.com."

Clarification: In our original text, CNET stated that Traffix, Inc. assumes that by entering your e-mail address, you've opted to be on its list. We have updated the text to clarify Traffix's opt-in procedures. (8/29/02)

Antivirus reviews
Correction: In some of our original reviews of antivirus products, we acknowledged the test results of a British publication, Virus Bulletin, while in other reviews, we did not. We have updated all the reviews where appropriate to include links to the Virus Bulletin 100% list. The additions do not change any product ratings. (5/9/02)

ISP survival guide
Update: In our original ISP survival guide, we recommended Boston-based Broadband2wireless as a high-speed Internet alternative. Broadband2wireless filed for bankruptcy in June.(6/20/01)

QuickTime 5.0
Clarification: Our original review did not clearly differentiate between QuickTime as a compression technique and developers platform, and as a streaming media player. We reviewed only QuickTime Player and its streaming media capabilities. The story has been edited to conform and clarify. (5/10/01)
