Autumn Audiovox line show
By Kent German(November 1, 2004)
Audiovox made a splash earlier this month when it introduced the SMT56000, its first Windows Mobile-based smart phone to include the portable version of Windows Media Player (WMP) 10.0. Then just two weeks later, it announced four additional mobiles at the CTIA show in San Francisco. This fall event is much smaller than the show in the spring, but that didn't stop Audiovox from introducing some firsts for the company.
Joining the company's existing PPC4100 Pocket PC mobile, the Audiovox PPC6600 and PPC6601 smart phones offer Sprint PCS customers a host of business-friendly features, including e-mail support, Bluetooth, a speakerphone, an SDIO expansion slot, and an integrated QWERTY keyboard. And for corporations that ban camera phones, the PPC6601 omits the VGA camera found on the PPC6600. Alternatively, the CDM-8940 packs in EVDO data speeds and a 1.3-megapixel camera into an attractive flip design, while the CDM-8615 offers less-demanding users a speakerphone and voice-activated dialing.
