My name is Matt Wilkinson. I live in Chicago and run my own technology support business--call it a one-man help desk--for small businesses and individuals. I've always been a tech head, which is why I'm really pumped about the chance to cover the TV beat at CES 2006. I confess, I'm a bit obsessive about TV: I have two networked DVRs working around the clock on my home network.
There are so many choices out there, it's mind-boggling. HDTV is just the tip of the iceberg. DLP, plasma, LCD, and maybe even new life for our old friend the cathode-ray tube will be on the show floor. I want to channel all of the TV tech news from the 2006 International CES to you.
As excited as I am about all the advances in TV picture quality, display technologies, and form factors from all the major players, I'm even more excited about place-shifting TV. Whether it's downloading recorded shows onto a portable video player or watching them on a PC across town, I want TV while I'm on the go. It's safe to say I'll pay a visit to the Sling Media booth to learn about its Slingbox. So stay tuned.
