CES 2005: The Next Big Thing
BenQ's sleek 17-inch LCD
January 12, 2005; 4:20 p.m.
BenQ FP72V LCD
The product: If you?re looking for a solid LCD that can handle everything, check out BenQ?s FP72V. This 17-inch LCD features a whopping 1,000:1 contrast ratio, along with the company?s Senseye imaging technology, which automatically adjusts contrast and brightness according to the light it finds in the room. Other cool features include:
  • 1,280x1,024 resolution
  • 178-degree viewing angle
  • Built-in speakers
  • Detachable Webcam and USB 2.0 port
The price: You can expect to see the FP72V in stores this March for around $600.

The prospects: Although by today?s standards 17 inches is small, we really like this LCD?s design, and its ultracrisp display more than compensates for the size.
