![]() Heavy-metal Motorola V635 January 10, 2005; 3:35 p.m. ![]() The product: Multimedia is a key theme of the Motorola V635 flip phone. The metal-clad handset has a 1.23-megapixel camera with an 8X zoom, a video recorder, and an MP3 player. But more importantly, the GSM V635 also is equipped with higher-speed EDGE technology for faster file transfers and downloading. In other words, you'll be able to put those multimedia features to good use. Other offerings in the V635 include 5MB of internal memory, a 256MB-capable TransFlash memory slot, and Bluetooth connectivity. The prospects: The Motorola V635 promises to be a solid cell phone with an attractive mix of design and features. Its real test, however, will depend on whether the data speeds will perform as promised. If the eventual carrier can't support an EDGE network adequately, the V635 could wind up as a pretty but not-so-useful cell phone. By Kent German, associate editor, CNET Reviews CES DEBUTS BY BRAND
