CES 2005: The Next Big Thing
Adesso introduces tablet mice
January 8, 2005; 12:08 p.m.
Adesso CyberTablets
The product: Adesso, which creates peripherals such as ergonomic keyboards, has released a line of drawing tablets that can replace your mouse. The wireless stylus lets you navigate your computer's desktop using natural hand movements, ideal for Photoshop users. Carpal tunnel victims might like the 12x9-inch drawing area of the largest product, the CyberTablet 1290. The happy medium in this line, the CyberTablet 8600, offers 8x6 inches to draw on, while the compact, 4.5x6-inch-pad CyberTablet 6400 fits in your backpack. These gizmos come in handy for signing your digital autograph, though doodles are crudely drawn. Each tablet features:
  • Cordless mouse with buttons
  • 512 points of pressure
  • Compatibility with Windows and Mac
The price: $69.99 for the CyberTablet 6400; $129 for the 8600; and $169 for the 1290

The prospects: Adesso's foray into drawing tablets doesn't break through any tech barriers, but this nicely priced lineup should suit the wrist-weary.
