Canon releases limber scanner

![]() The product: The ultrathin, silver Canon LiDE 500F opens four different ways to fit your whim. Prop it up on its built-in scanner stand, and the shell yawns 40 degrees wide so that you can drop in a scan-ready item. Lay the scanner flat in Portrait mode, and it opens at a 110-degree angle. You can even open it 180 degrees to scan big items. Need to fit a paperback on the glass? Just expand the scanner's spine by an inch. You can still scan in traditional flatbed Landscape mode.
