![]() Sony's first real hard drive MP3 player makes its stateside debut January 7, 2005; 11:00 a.m. ![]() The product: After years of the press and the public harassing Sony about its "MP3" players' lack of native MP3 support, the company is finally giving in. This suits us just fine, because Sony players traditionally sound great, have excellent battery life, and boast beautiful designs. The NW-HD3 is the company's first hard drive player to offer up native MP3 playback, but other than that long-awaited enhancement, it's largely the same as the NW-HD1. Key features include:
The prospects: The Sony's pretty pricey when it's lined up alongside comparable MP3 players, but the company's tradition of flawless design and stellar battery life are sure to attract those with the cash to spare.
