CES 2005: The Next Big Thing
ViewSonic's do-it-all 23-inch LCD
January 6, 2005; 2:42 p.m.
ViewSonic VP231wb
The product: It's easy to like the new ViewSonic VP231wb. Aside from its glorious wide-screen display, the sleek LCD is also HD ready and capable of showing resolutions of up to 1080p. With both analog and digital connections, the 23-inch LCD works with both Macs and PCs and even features an integrated USB 2.0 hub. In addition to being wall mountable, the monitor's screen can also pivot, and you can adjust its height. Other features include:
  • 500:1 contrast ratio
  • 16ms response time
  • 1,920x1,200 native resolution
  • 176-degree viewing angles
The price: Though it looks like a million bucks, the VP231wb won't cost anywhere near that much. It will sell for $1,899.

The prospects: If you're seeking an LCD with top-of-the-line features, look no further. The VP231wb promises to be just as efficient handling everyday multimedia tasks as it is running more demanding graphics-intensive apps.
