Yamaha launches combo DVD-changer/receiver home-theater system
January 6, 2005; 12:15 p.m.
![]() The product: Yamaha adds a space-saving twist to this midrange home theater in a box (HTIB) by putting a five-disc DVD changer and an A/V receiver into one unit. The changer offers progressive scanning and allows you to switch four discs while the fifth one is playing. The DVX-C300, which comes in either black or silver, ships with five satellite speakers and a subwoofer; combined, the six units output 900 watts of power.
The prospects: With only eight surround-sound programs and basic connectivity options, the DVX-C300 isn't as full featured as pricier HTIBs, but those looking for a sub-$500 home-theater system may appreciate this system's DVD changer and single A/V component.
