![]() Canon's speedy portable printer January 7, 2005; 5:45 p.m. ![]() The product: With the iP90 portable printer, Canon has what appears to be worthy successor to its already popular i80 model. The iP90 offers improved photo printing speeds of 16ppm monochrome (over 14ppm) and 12ppm color (over 10ppm), as well as new dye-based inks and a spiffy exterior redesign. Of course, the iP90's most important feature is its portability; with optional accessories, it can run off battery power when no outlets are available and print directly from Bluetooth-enabled PDAs in the absence of a network. The prospects: The Canon iP90 looks to follow the success of its predecessor, the i80, one of only a few portable printers currently on the market. Given its improved speed, inks, and design, it seems likely that the iP90 will prove a worthy addition to the portable printing category.
