CES 2005: The Next Big Thing
Samsung makes LCD gaming
a reality

January 6, 2005; 5:30 p.m.
Samsung SyncMaster 915N
Finalist The product: Samsung is giving CRTs a run for their money with its new gameworthy SyncMaster 915N. This stylish, black, 19-inch LCD is one of the first displays to boast an 8ms response time, making it an ideal display for gamers looking to dump their bulky CRTs. The LCD's lightning-fast response time allows for smoother video and no ghosting or blurring when playing first-person shooters or watching DVDs.

In addition to its fast response time, other specs include:
  • 700:1 contrast ratio
  • 1,280x1,024 maximum resolution
  • A brightness rate of 300cd/m2
The prospects: Samsung was the first company to release a 12ms LCD, the SyncMaster 172X, and if the company plays its cards right, it should have another strong contender with the 915N. Expect to see the SyncMaster 915N in stores by February.
