CES 2005: The Next Big Thing
Westinghouse Digital rolls out
HD-grade LCD monitors

January 10, 2005; 3:27 p.m.
Westinghouse LCM-19v1
The product: Whether you're watching movies or surfing the Internet, Westinghouse Digital's new HD-grade LCDs promise to deliver the best picture your money can buy. Ranging in size from a 17-inch display to an eye-opening 27-inch LCD, the new monitors promise wider viewing angles and brighter images than your typical flat-screen model. Hitting the sweet spot is the company's 19-inch LCM-19v1, which includes:
  • 1,280x1,024 native resolution
  • 600:1 contrast ratio
  • 170-degree horizontal and vertical viewing angles
  • The ability to display 16.2 million colors
The price: Westinghouse assures us that its LCDs will be aggressively priced, starting at $499 for the 19-inch display and just shy of $1,000 for the wide-screen 27-inch LCD.

The prospects: With products that are brighter, larger, and more affordable than ever, Westinghouse is bringing the big screen to your desktop without charging you an arm and a leg.
