The Sony Ericsson S710a
turns heads January 6, 2005; 10:10 a.m.
![]() The product: Sony Ericsson debuts its first swivel phone with the S710a. This mobile has a screen that pivots 180 degrees to expose the keypad. When closed, it looks more like a handheld than a handset, and of course, it doubles as a PDA. The S710a also has an 8X digital zoom and captures MPEG-4 video. Other features you'll find in this triband phone (GSM 850/1800/1900; GPRS) include a 262,000-color screen, Bluetooth wireless, an integrated MP3 player, a Web browser, Java (J2ME) support for games and apps, multimedia messaging, PC syncing, and a Memory Stick Duo expansion slot. The swivel design not only looks cool, it also lets you make calls in either the closed or open positions, while the hidden keyboard cuts down on misdials.
