![]() Ovideon introduces Aviah, a unique, OLED-powered PVP January 5, 2005; 11:15 a.m. ![]() The product: Ovideon, a company that was exclusively producing LCD TVs, has brought something new to the table for CES. The Aviah, a portable video player powered by OLED (Organic Light Emitting Diode), truly appears to live up to the company's claim of being a unique device. This is namely thanks to the player's OLED screen, something we've started to see in increasing numbers of MP3 players but that had yet to manifest itself in PVPs. The main benefits of OLED over LCD are lower power consumption, a notably crisper picture, and a seemingly unlimited viewing angle. Other features and specs include:
The prospects: The Aviah looks to have a lot going for it, and it's managed to squeeze it all into a frame that's not much bigger than that of the iPod Photo. The screen seems a bit small for comfortable lengthy viewing, so we don't know if it's the ideal device for long trips, but that could be a small price to pay for those who want a portable device with a built-in TV tuner and an OLED screen.
