A lot of people will be thinking about new TVs for the holidays, and it can be confusing.
It sounds easier
It would seem like getting a TV with a cable card would make things easier. If you're a cable subscriber getting HDTV service from your local cable operator, rather than over the air or by satellite, you won't need an external set-top box to get your HD. So it's a little less clutter.
It's not a must-have
If you're interested in a high-def DVR, such as a TiVo, that allows you to record HD programming, you'll need to go with an external box anyway.
So the short answer is no. A cable card with a built-in HD tuner is not a must-have option. It will become much more of a standard feature on HDTVs.
