Holidays are a great time to share old family videos. A great present could be a new DVD that collects great family moments together.
There are two ways to convert your old VHS tapes into DVDs:
PC-based method
You'll need to connect your VCR to a computer that's equipped with a
DVD burner and a video-capture device (with the requisite software).
Once the video is captured to the hard drive, it can be burned to DVD. Some external PC DVD burners even allow direct VCR connections for simple, straight-to-DVD dubbing.
Standalone DVD recorder method
This method is easier than the PC method. Connect your VCR to the inputs of a
DVD-recording deck--many entry-level models now cost less than $250.
If you have shelves full of dozens of old home-recorded VHS tapes, the best and most convenient method is to invest in a
VCR/DVD combo recorder. For less than $300, you'll be able to dub non-copyright-protected VHS tapes to DVD at the touch of a single button.
