In-car GPS is finally catching on here in the United States, and Mio has unveiled two new portable navigation devices to meet the growing demand. For drivers with more sophisticated needs, the Mio C710 offers Bluetooth connectivity, real-time traffic information, text-to-speech functionality, and a media player so that you can view video and photos. There's 2GB of flash ROM onboard, and maps of North America come preloaded on the hard drive. The C710 will cost $899.
First-time GPS users may find the Mio C310 more their speed. Available in either a U.S. or Canadian version, the C310 has a 20-channel GPS antenna, a 3.5-inch touch screen, and a rated battery life of 4.5 hours. There's also an optional traffic-monitoring package. The C310 will retail for $599, and both devices should be available in the first quarter of 2006.
