The image on the left was shot with Highlight Tone Priority enabled and you can see that the camera was able to capture more highlight detail than in the image to right, which was shot with the same settings, but with Highlight Tone Priority turned off. Note: if your monitor is not properly calibrated, you may have trouble seeing this example. Shot details: Canon EOS 1Ds Mark III; 1/8 sec.; f/8; ISO 400; EF 24-70mm f/2.8L USM zoomed to 57mm.
