How to buy a cell phone for your business
By Kent German
February 1, 2005
Although cell phones may tick off theatergoers and your favorite maître d', the fact remains that they're here to stay. And they can, of course, benefit your business in innumerable ways. With your cell phone at your side, you'll never again miss a customer or skip a sales call.

Cell phones are also relatively inexpensive and available almost everywhere, but your selection is a two-part process. Besides choosing a phone, you must select a carrier, a decision that is just as important. Be sure to find the carrier that offers the best price plan and the best service for your area. If you don't know who provides the best service, ask your neighbors which provider they use. For phones on the high end, you can get a smart phone, which is almost like having a mini office in your hand. Smart phones use operating systems such as Windows Mobile, which enables you to check e-mail, refer to your calendar, and open Microsoft Office documents. And yes, smart phones still make calls. On the other hand, if your budget is smaller and making calls is your main goal, you can choose a phone that's only a phone.
