Why did you buy it?
My company bought it to try it out, and it seemed like a neat idea at the time; having used the older pager-style model, I was enthused. I have now had mine more than three years and still love it to death.

What does it do for you?
Primarily, it keeps me in contact 24/7 (if I choose) and has never failed me. I used this device to track down people right after 9/11 and keep them posted. Again during the 8/15 blackout, it was my main means of communicating with the world.

Would you recommend it to others? Why?
My unit has been dropped on the sidewalk numerous times, gone through three holsters, gone two weeks with no charge, and been dropped into water. It has survived all of these trials admirably and has proven itself to be one of the best-designed devices of recent years, and little could be done to improve it. Indeed, the new-generation ones use the faster GSM/GPRS service, but the battery life is reduced because of it.
