Beginning this summer, Fujitsu, Hitachi, UC Card, and Dai Nippon Printing will offer encryption software over the Internet for online shopping, according to Nikkei English News. The experimental offering will receive a 1.5 billion yen ($11.4 million) infusion from Japan?s Ministry of International Trade and Industry and a formal endorsement from MasterCard. The experiment aims to lower shipment costs by eliminating the need to mail software via postal services.
