E-commerce trade group CommerceNet
will oversee the Open Buying on
the Internet standard, starting June 1. CommerceNet replaces SupplyWorks an Internet commerce
consulting firm that spearheaded OBI's creation. OBI includes a standard
format to list items in business-to-business catalogs so buyers can compare
prices and specs from multiple vendors. Major purchasing firms helped draft
the spec.
