in Singapore to manufacture integrated circuits. Called Silicon
Manufacturing Partners, the venture will employ about 800 people and will make integrated circuits. Lucent will own 51 percent of the company, and both
companies will share production output, which is scheduled to begin in the fourth quarter of this year.

Singapore's Chartered Semiconductor Manufacturing, which manufactures chips
for other companies, reported net revenues of $238.4 million for the first
quarter of 2000, an increase of 82 percent over net revenues of $130.8
million in the first quarter of 1999. Net revenues came to $261.6 million
for the first quarter, up 100 percent from $130.8 million in net revenues
from the same quarter a year ago.
